ROCHESTER — Another Republican has jumped into the race for Minnesota’s 1st Congressional District.

Jim Hagedorn announced his candidacy Wednesday for the seat currently held by Democrat Tim Walz.

Hagedorn is the son of former GOP Congressman Tom Hagedorn.

His announcement comes after state Rep. Randy Demmer, a Hayfield Republican, said he would take another stab at winning the 1st Congressional seat.

Former state Rep. Allen Quist announced last month he would seek the Republican nod to challenge Walz.
