Genevieve E. Taylor, 97 of Apple Valley, formerly of Austin, moved to her “eternal rest home” on Sept. 16, 2010.
Genevieve took seriously the words of Jesus, who said: “I came to serve, not to be served.” Genevieve taught Sunday school, helped mentor teenage girls and always found time each day to pray for her family and friends. She also served as a volunteer and part-time employee at Burr Oak Manor Nursing Home in Austin for many years. Genevieve uplifted the spirits of many Burr Oak residents with her smile and Christ-like love.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law; Ron and Mary Taylor, Chanhassen; Jerry and Julie Taylor, Rosemount; grandchildren: Merri Wentler, Rahn Taylor, Melissa Taylor, Alison Taylor, Andrew Taylor and Daniel Taylor; great-grandchildren: Amber, Lindsay and Matt Mrozek and great-great grandchild Adrina Mrozek; brother, Norman Ekedal, Mountain Home, Ark.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, in 1993.
A service to celebrate Genevieve’s life will be held at 11a.m. on Wednesday Sept. 22 at the Grace Baptist Church, 100 Fourth Ave. SE, with Pastor Gordon D. Larson officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. The family prefers memorials to the Grace Baptist Church. Clasen-Jordan Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
