The river is expected to reach 12.4 feet by 7 p.m. tonight, which will cause minor flooding along the creek in Austin.
“Turtle Creek is a very rapidly rising creek,” said NWS meteorologist Jessica Brooks. “It doesn’t take long to rise up.”
At 7 a.m. this morning, Brooks said the creek was at five feet.
By Friday morning, the creek is expected to crest at 13.3 feet — roughly a foot shy of the creek’s flood record stage.
Flooding is not expected to begin along the creek outside of Austin until water levels reach 15 feet, which is not expected.
