Two men await charges for allegedly throwing a rock through the window of a 83-year-old Nicolville woman’s home early Sunday.
According to a sheriff’s department report, the woman awoke around 5 a.m. when a roughly 20-pound rock smashed through the living room window near where she was sleeping.
Sheriff’s deputies and Austin police officers responded, and one deputy noticed tire tracks coming up near the window on the west side of the house.
Another officer had observed a vehicle leaving the area at around the same time of the incident. The officer jotted down the license plate number.
Later Sunday, that license plate number led to two males, 24 and 28, who were questioned regarding the incident.
Initially, they were evasive to questioning, but eventually one of the males said the other had thrown the rock, according to the report.
Both were cited and they await formal criminal damage to property charges in Mower County court.
The window was destroyed, a roughly $500 loss, the report states.
