An Austin man’s attempt to make fried chicken was cut short early Thursday morning when a grease fire broke out on his stove.
According to Police Chief Brian Krueger, the man called in the fire just before 4 a.m. Thursday morning. When Lt. Matt Holten arrived, he couldn’t find the homeowner but saw a small fire on the stove. Krueger said Holten put out the fire with an extinguisher.
The homeowner was eventually located outside of the residence. He told police he had been cooking fried chicken when the grease fire started.
Austin Fire Department ventilated the home. There was little to no damage after it cleared out, according to Krueger.
