John David Silver, 71

John David Silver, 71, died on Sept. 21, 2010. John lived a life of his choosing, neither too long nor too short, and in a manner befitting his sense of personal values.

He was born in Cedar Rapids, IA on July 26, 1939. After growing up in Cedar Rapids, the family moved to Austin. John graduated from Austin High School in 1957. He joined the military; his time was spent in Germany from 1957 until 1960.

Returning home from the service, John chose to locate in Garrison, MN. He then became a cement finisher, working and living in Atlanta, GA for several years. After his retirement he concentrated on his home in Garrison, bought an extra lot and went ice fishing.

John is survived by four siblings: sister, Jo Ann Lawson; sister, Mary Zino, Phoenix; sister, Marilyn Tynes, Anoka and brother, Lynn Edward Silver, Brooklyn Park. He will be missed by his family and many friends.

A memorial will be held on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010 at the American Legion in Deerwood from 2-4 p.m.
