AFD puts out home, vehicle fires

Austin Fire Department and Austin Police Department responded to a house fire and a vehicle fire on Sunday.

The house fire occurred at 204 South Main Street around 11:30 p.m. Dispatch received multiple phone calls of white smoke in the area and, upon arrival, the south side of the home was consumed by fire.

Fire fighters extinguished the fire and left the scene around 1:15 a.m. The house was unoccupied and no injuries were reported, but Police Chief Brian Krueger said the cause of the fire is under investigation.

The vehicle fire took place around 2:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the 1000 block of 7th Avenue Northeast.

Patrick Tesmer, 45, was working on his 1998 Chevy Cavalier in his driveway when it started on fire.

The vehicle was completely engulfed in flames when the AFD arrived on the scene. They extinguished the fire, but the car was a total loss.

There were no injuries from the incident.
