The Lyle-Pacelli girls basketball team opened its season on a strong note with a 51-36 win at Schaeffer Academy (0-1 overall, 0-1 SEC) Tuesday.

The Athletics (1-0 overall, 1-0 SEC) led by as many as 20 in both halves as freshman center Madison Truckenmiller scored 12 points and sophomore guard Maggie Lewison chipped in nine points.

“My big hope was Madison and Maggie would step up this year and we got a lot of offense out of them tonight,” L-P head coach Brad Walter said.

Ann Rysavy and Cortney Walter each scored eight points for L-P, despite missing a lot of time due to foul trouble.

“Once they got in foul trouble, things changed a little and we lost a little of our lead,” Walter said.
