Police arrested a Florida man Thursday night after he allegedly stole a pickup from Austin Tire while intoxicated.

Richard Steven Trigilio, 51, is being held in the Mower County jail, according to Police Chief Brian Krueger. He was arrested around 6 p.m. Thursday.

According to Krueger, two Austin Tire employees called the police after they saw the business owner’s pickup truck being driven away. An officer located the truck and initiated a felony traffic stop with guns drawn near Key Apartments when backup officers arrived.

Trigilio was given a preliminary breath test, which came in over the legal limit, according to Krueger.

Trigilio told police he didn’t realize the truck was stolen.

He will likely be charged in Mower County District Court in the coming days.
