An Austin man was robbed at gunpoint early Saturday morning in the Plaza Lot on the west side of the new justice center.

The owner of Taco Yolis, the taco stand that sits in the Plaza Lot, was closing down his stand at around 3:45 a.m. when a tall man — wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his head and drawn tightly on his face — allegedly approached the stand and demanded that the owner give him the nightly proceeds.

The owner reported to police that the man pointed the gun at him and told him to get on the ground. The owner said the man told him, “I will shoot you.”

The owner turned over his wallet and the cash from the nightly proceeds.

Police Chief Brian Krueger said the man apparently fled north through the Plaza Lot. Officers attempted to track him with a canine but were unable to locate him.

There are currently no suspects in the incident. The case has been forwarded to detectives for further investigation.
