WINONA, Minn. (AP) — Winona police say a suspected drunken driver was arrested, processed and released — only to be arrested again two hours later.
A Winona Daily News report (http://bit.ly/vzxmUn ) says officers first encountered the man Friday about 1:30 a.m. while investigating an unrelated incident at a bar.
When police left the bar they saw the 41-year-old Winona man drive past. Knowing he’d been drinking, they pulled him over.
Deputy Chief Tom Williams says a preliminary breath test indicated his blood-alcohol level was above the legal limit. He was arrested, asked to provide a urine sample and released.
Williams says the arresting officer saw the man driving a different vehicle at 3:20 a.m. The officer knew the man hadn’t had enough time to sober up and arrested him again.
