A 20-year-old LeRoy man was arrested Tuesday night for allegedly trying to run over another man with a car.
According to a sheriff’s report, the incident occurred in a school parking lot on 404 S Mather St. at around 9:15 p.m.
The 20-year-old man backed out of a parking space and then sped forward toward another man, 19, who was standing outside a vehicle, according to multiple witnesses in the parking lot.
That man ran in between two cars and the driver skidded to a stop, the report states.
The 20-year-old then backed up and sped toward the other man again. This time, the 19-year-old had to jump out of the way.
The 19-year-old reported the incident to authorities and the driver was arrested later Tuesday in LeRoy.
According to the report, the two were arguing over a female friend.
The 20-year-old male is expected to be charged in Mower County court with assault with a dangerous weapon.
