Hayfield grad Leslie Wilson was named female athlete of the week for the Iowa Conference for her play on the Wartburg College women’s basketball team.

Wilson, a senior at Wartburg, averaged 15 points and 9 rebounds as the Knights opened the Iowa Conference slate with a pair of victories last week. She posted an 18-point, 10-rebound double-double on 8-of-10 shooting in a 77-72 win over rival Luther on Nov. 30, then posted 12 points and eight rebounds in a 71-54 win over Simpson on Dec. 3. Wilson was a perfect 4-for-4 from the charity stripe against the Storm, helping Wartburg set a new single-game school record for team free throw percentage (95.0 percent).
