A yes vote is best vote

I would like to encourage the people of Austin to join me in voting yes for our school district’s upcoming referendum. According to the 2010 referendum brochure, a yes vote prevents the district from having to make $1.5 million in budget reductions. These cuts would cause the district to increase class sizes, narrow the scope of program and course offerings and/or reduce employee positions.

Our three children have enjoyed and benefitted greatly from the courses and programs offered and any cuts would negatively impact the children of Austin. In addition, our district can receive equalization aid from the state, but only if we approve the referendum. Finally, it is important to know that there is no increase to our taxes with a yes vote. Let’s make this investment in our kids and in our schools by voting yes on Nov. 2.
