A house fire in Red Rock Township claimed the entire home, including a dog and a cat, Friday afternoon.

The homeowner returned to her house – located at 57769 280th Street, Brownsdale – after making a trip into Hayfield to find her entire home engulfed in flames.

Fire departments from Dexter, Brownsdale and Hayfield, as well as Mower County deputies, were on the scene from around 3:30 p.m. until 10:15 p.m.

The house was a total loss. Nobody was in the residence at the time, but the homeowner said she believes her cat and dog were in the house and did not escape in time.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
