The Hayfield boys basketball team won at Rochester Lourdes (2-1 overall) for the first time since 2006 when it came up with a 62-57 win Friday night.

The Vikings (2-0, 1-0 HVL overall) trailed 57-56 when Brady Kramer hit a free throw to tie the game with 1:11 left. Kramer missed the second free throw, but Hayfield junior Trevor Anderson pulled down the offensive rebound and eventually drilled the go-ahead three.

Anderson, a junior guard who has hit five-of-six from downtown to start the season, also hit two free throws to ice the game.

“For him to have the confidence to take that three without thinking about it was huge,” Hayfield head coach Chris Pack said. “We needed a compliment to our four returning starters and he’s done exactly what we needed of him.”

Brady Kramer had 13 points, nine assists and six rebounds for Hayfield and sophomore point guard Cole Kruger scored 17 points for the Vikings, who have started the season with two wins over quality opponents.

“This shows we can compete with anybody,” Pack said.
