Only one person has applied to fill the vacant Austin School Board seat.
The board voted June 14 to accept applications through this Friday for a replacement to serve the duration of ousted board member Curt Rude’s term.
Superintendent Krenz said Wednesday that thus far only one application has come in; the board was hoping to interview four candidates.
The names of candidates will be held until Friday, Krenz said, as they have until then to withdraw their application.
Eight candidates filed for the last school board election, held in November.
Applications are available from the district’s office, 401 Third Ave. NW. If there are more than four , a personnel committee will review applications Monday before interviews are held in front of the board July 20.
Applicants must be eligible voters at least 21 years old, who have lived in the district for at least 30 days prior to appointment.
