A Rochester teen was arrested near Albert Lea Tuesday in a stolen vehicle after reportedly stealing gas from an Austin station earlier in the day.
The 15-year-old male was taken into custody in Freeborn County. Three others in the car were also taken in but later released.
According to a police report, the teenager filled up the vehicle at Nicol’s Fast Lube on Main Street at around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday. A clerk noticed that the boy didn’t pay and took off north on Main toward Interstate 90.
Local police notified the Minnesota State Patrol, and a state trooper spotted the car headed west on Interstate 90 near the Highway 35 intersection. The teenager was pulled over without incident.
The car was reported stolen out of Rochester, the report states. Details about who the car belongs to were not provided.
