A wolf was taken into the pound over the weekend after an Austin man was found with it as a pet.
Officers went to the 1203 11th Ave. NW home of Dustin Dennison, 27, early Sunday after his mother-in-law told police she was concerned about his pet.
Dennison told officers that he had picked up the wolf, “Dakota,” after seeing a posting on the online classifieds site Craigslist.
When told it was against city ordinance to own a wolf, Dennison was cooperative and handed the animal over, according to a police report.
He said he’d make arrangements for the wolf within a few days.
Wherever the animal goes, it won’t be staying in Mower County — sheriff Terese Amazi said the county also has an ordinance prohibiting wolf ownership.
