Take it easy

A recent event and an upcoming event are reminders that it’s time to take some extra caution on area roads.

Wednesday’s snow, albeit mere flurries, was a harbinger of slippery roads to come. And every year, the first slippery driving day ends in disaster for a few unwary motorists. Best to start mentally preparing now for slower speeds.

Slower speeds will also be a good idea on Sunday, when children will take to the streets for Halloween trick-or-treating. There will inevitably be young people running across streets in the dark and without looking for traffic. So it will be up to drivers to be on the lookout and to be extra cautious.
