Austin may have a new police captain as soon as Nov. 15 if City Council approves Police Chief Brian Krueger’s recommendation for the position.

City Council will vote to approve Detective Sgt. David McKichan Monday evening, and if McKichan accepts the job he will have his ceremonial pinning Nov. 15 at the City Council meeting.

The Austin Police Department has been without a police captain since Curt Rude was put on leave in 2007.

City Council will also hold a public hearing at the meeting to review the Austin Floodplain Progress Report, which reviews the city’s emergency flood services and floodplain management.

The meeting is at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall Monday evening.
