Grand Meadow had a worst case scenario come into reality as it dropped a nine man section 1 semifinal football contest 14-13 to No. 5 seeded Glenville/Emmons Saturday in GM.

The top seeded Superlarks (8-2 overall) lost their top playmaker in Caleb Liechtnam to injury in the first quarter and they lost five turnovers in after Liechtnam left the game.

GM had led 13-0 after one quarter and it out-gained G/E 351-189 in total yards on the night.

“Our defense played as hard as they have all year,” GM head coach Gary Sloan said. “Those turnovers hurt us.”

The Larks drove deep into G/E territory twice in the fourth quarter but they lost fumbles both times.

The Wolverines (5-5 overall) took the lead for good when they recovered a fumble on and ran it back to the GM 10-yard line at the end of the third and Landon Hall scored from a yard out early in the fourth quarter.
