Austin bowlers finish regular season

The Austin bowling team wrapped up its regular season by beating Pine Island/Zumbrota/Mazeppa and Rochester John Marshall, while losing to Hayfield in Spare Time Lanes in Hayfield Saturday.

The Packers (9-7 overall) will now prepare for the conference tournament Nov. 6 at Recreation Lanes in Rochester Saturday. The winner of that tournament receives an automatic berth to the state tournament.

Austin won the first, third and fifth game to beat PIZM and Cole Kroneman had a perfect 10-for-10 performance in the win.

Hayfield won the first three games to beat Austin and it missed only nine fill opportunities during the match. Austin had some ill-timed misses in the loss.

Against John Marshall, the Packers missed only seven fill opportunities and only one Packer missed more than one fill opportunity. Nick Downey was six-for-six.

The Austin junior varsity bowling team completed the regular season undefeated, at 10-0 in match play.
