City officials plan to pump more than $100 million in public improvements into Austin in the next five years, but only a small part of that will be funded by taxpayers.
Austin City Council is scheduled to approve at a meeting Monday night the city’s five-year capital improvement plan. The plan is updated and approved by the city council on an annual basis.
According to a summary of the plan, an estimated $2.12 million of funding for projects will come from the tax levy, with an estimated $55.1 million coming from grants. Much of the remaining funding will come from already-existing funds or regular fees charged by city entities.
City officials have previously said that projects listed in the plan will only be undertaken if funding is available.
Monday’s council meeting will include a public hearing about the capital investment plan. The public can give City Council members feedback before the vote.
The meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Monday in Council Chambers at City Hall.
