Julie (Schnorenberg) Kent, 55, went to Heaven peacefully on Oct. 3, 2010 surrounded by family at Mercy General Hospital, Sacramento CA.
Julie was born May 4, 1955 in Rose Creek. She attended School at St. Peter’s Catholic Elementary school for six years before transferring to Rose Creek Public where she graduated in May 1973. Julie attended Rochester Community College graduating with a degree in nursing in 1976; she was a Mayo Clinic trained nurse for over 35 years. Julie set the bar for true bedside care as a nurse working at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester; Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis and15 years at MercyGeneral CCC/Rehab., Sacramento, CA. Her work was her pride, and her co-workers, her pride and joy.
Because she was tired of the snow, ice and cold, she moved to San Diego CA, working for Scripts Hospital and Sutter Hospital in Sacramento.
Julie married Larry Kent on June 25, 1983 in San Diego. Their son Alexander was born Feb. 25, 1986. Julie could always find time for camping, boating and traveling to any town with antique stores to explore.
Julie is survived by her husband, Larry, of 27 years; her loving son, Alex (24); her mother, Arleen Schnorenberg, Rose Creek; her brother, Richard (Helen Ballentine)Schnorenberg, Lawler IA; sister, Linda (Tim) O’Gorman, Hastings; sister-in-law, Laura Clopton, Santa Rosa CA, who was also a sister in Julie’s heart; niece, Lori (Randy) Shatek; four great- nephews; nephew, Jake (Fannie) O ‘Gorman and great niece, Ellie, Dallas TX. Larry’s large family all continue to be an anchor of love and support. Julie was preceded in death by her father, Melvin; nephew, Michael Schnorenberg; grandparents; mother-in-law, Lydia Kent and many cousins.
The family would like to thank C. PaulSpears, M.D. and his staff at Sierra Hematology for their expertise and loving care. Larry and Alex take great comfort from the love, encouragement and friendship Julie was given by their new family, The Friday Morning Chemo Class. The fight bravely goes on in the fight against Cancer.
A memorial will be held Nov. 6, 2010 in Rancho Cordova CA. with arrangements entrusted to Neptune Society of Northern California.
A Memorial will be celebrated in Rose Creek at a later date.
