BROOKLYN PARK — Hennepin County investigators are focused on a three-story water slide as they look into the death of a teenager at a Brooklyn Park water park.

The 17-year-old Champlin boy was found unconscious at the bottom of the Hurricane Plunge ride Saturday. The slide sends riders down a tube at up to 45 mph before they land in a bowl, get a final spin and are dumped into an eight-foot-deep pool.

Former Grand Rios Water Park lifeguard Benjamin Cramer says swimmers frequently become confused underwater when they emerge from the slide.
