Robert Dean Heikes, 66

Robert “Bob” Dean Heikes passed away suddenly on Dec. 22, 2011, at his home in Ogilvie, Minn. He was 66.

Robert was born November 8, 1945 in Austin, Minn., to Martin and Faye (Sash) Heikes. He grew up on the family farm in Hayfield, Minn. He was the fourth of six siblings and attended country school through the fifth grade. He then attended Hayfield High School and graduated in 1963.

In 1966, he enlisted in the Army Reserve. He met Patricia Marie Miller in 1966, and they married on July 3, 1967. Bob and Pat moved to their present farm near Ogilvie in 1968 where they spent many years farming. Roberts’s passion was beef cattle, but his biggest enjoyment in life was spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Joan; son, Matthew and sister, Barbara.

Robert will be greatly missed by his wife, Pat; children, Mark (Tracy) of Mora, Joe (Kim Stucky) of Milaca, Sarah (Jim) England of Onamia, Hannah (Steve DeVlaeminck) of Ogilvie; seven grandchildren, Ashley and Zach Heikes, Ashton and Ayden Heikes, Bailey and Austin England, Amelia Heikes; brothers, Marty (Shirley) of Rosemount, Warren (Ardyce) of Ogilvie, Delmar (Ruth) of Hayfield and sister, Elaine of Eagan. Many other relatives and friends.

A Funeral service was held Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, at the Akkerman Ingebrand Funeral Home of Mora with Rev. Bob DeYoung officiating. Casket Bearers were Dan Schafer, Ken Monson, Duane Weber, Roger Weber, Leroy Ingvaldson, Gomez Hoffman, and Peter Selle. Interment was in the Oakwood cemetery of Mora.
