An Austin man was cited for fifth-degree assault Wednesday night after allegedly threatening to kill a nurse while being treated at Austin Medical Center.

Michael James Cramer, 27, was being treated for self-inflicted cuts when the incident took place.

Cramer had been unconscious from the wounds, but when he regained consciousness he became “combative,” according to police reports.

Upon waking, Cramer allegedly attempted to punch one of the nurses and then told her he would kill her if he saw her on the street.

When police searched Cramer, they found that he was carrying scalpels, one of which was open and had blood on it.

The police report did not indicate if alcohol or drugs played a role in the incident.
