Hayfield girls open with a win

The Hayfield girls basketball team cranked up the pace in a 45-31 win at Triton to open the season Tuesday, but they may be turning it back down a notch.

Despite picking up the win, the Vikings (1-0 overall, 1-0 HVL) had 29 turnovers and they shot just 27 percent from the field.

“We tried to get out and run and we were able to do that, but we missed a lot of easy lay-ups and we left a lot of points on the floor,” Hayfield head coach Fred Kindschy said. “The girls like to get out and run, but we may have to look at slowing it down.”
