The Southland girls basketball team had 11 players score in a 75-45 win over Lyle/Pacelli in the first round of their invite in Adams Thursday.

The Rebels (2-0 overall) led 39-24 at the half and they started to pull their starters with 11 minutes left in the game.

“It was good to get everyone in to see what we have,” Southland head coach Bob Sheehan said. “Those kids work hard and it’s nice to get them in the game.”

The Athletics (0-2 overall) aren’t too fazed by the loss and head coach Brad Walter said he was glad his team was able to put up 45 points against a quality Southland team.

“It was a good opportunity for us to find out where we’re at and we’re not in their league, but we’re going to win some games this year. We’ve got some talent,” Walter said.

Southland will play Randolph (1-0 overall) in the tournament title game Friday at approximately 8 p.m.

L/P will play LeRoy/Ostrander Friday in Adams at 6 p.m.
