ROCHESTER — When Joyce Sharp saw a woman ringing a bell at a Salvation Army red kettle in Minnesota this week, she dropped in a handful of change.

Only she didn’t realize her husband’s wedding ring was among the coins.

Sharp, of Rochester, had slipped the ring in her coin purse Monday while her husband had knee surgery. When he asked for it back Thursday, Sharp says she “had heart failure” when she couldn’t find it.

When she realized what happened she contacted the Salvation Army. A spokesman told her change gets counted at the bank, and if she dropped the ring in the kettle it would be there.

To Sharp’s relief, it was.
