A 38-year-old man is wanted on a Mower County warrant for allegedly raping and sexually harassing an 18-year-old co-worker in Dexter.
Fausto Cesar Alvarado-Sagastume faces a felony count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. The warrant and a criminal complaint were filed Wednesday.
According to the complaint, the alleged rape occurred in June of last year when Alvarado-Sagastume and the woman were alone at work.
He allegedly pushed the woman into a corner, held her hands behind her head and forcibly had sex with her until she was able to get a hand free and push him away.
Before that alleged incident, Alvarado-Sagastume allegedly cornered the woman at work, held her hips and whispered to her while she repeatedly told him to stop.
The woman told her parents about that incident, but did not tell her employer. According to the complaint, she did attempt to schedule herself apart from Alvarado-Sagastume. On the day of the alleged rape, the woman was filling in for another worker and she thought a third employee would be present as well.
The woman reported the alleged rape to authorities in May of this year, according to the complaint.
A month later, the store owner was questioned. He said he was unaware of any harassment that may have occurred, though he did think one other female employee had quit around the same time because they felt uncomfortable with Alvarado-Sagastume’s “flirting.”
The complaint states that Alvarado-Sagastume is a “lifetime” registrant on the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension’s Predatory Offender Registry for a 1996 rape conviction in Maryland.
Alvarado-Sagastume was also listed as having been deported back to Guatemala in January of this year, according to the complaint.
