ST. CLOUD — The Minnesota Department of Health blames poor training and supervision for the death of a resident at a St. Cloud nursing home.

The resident slipped out of a mechanical lift at St. Benedict’s Senior Community last June and hit her head on the floor. She died several days later.

The state’s investigation concludes the two staff involved had not been trained on how to use the lift.The Star Tribune says the report also noted the home failed to provide adequate supervision to make sure proper techniques were being used when the lift was in operation.

St. Benedict’s took corrective action following the resident’s fall.
