The Austin boys soccer team couldn’t close the deal in a 2-1 loss at Rochester Century Tuesday.

After a scoreless first half, the Packers (1-2 overall, 0-2 Big Nine) took a 1-0 lead with 26 minutes left in the second half when Dante Ortiz knocked in a crossing pass from Rolando Rubio.

Century (4-1-1 overall) tied things up seven minutes later and took the lead for good with eight minutes left in the match.

“We played good soccer but we just got caught,” Austin head coach Jens Levisen said. “Century scored both goals on long balls.”

The Packers offense was aggressive, but couldn’t get more than one goal on the night.

“We had a couple of shots hit the post and their keeper made some nice saves,” Levisen said.
