Marie M. Matti, 95, of Austin, died on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth.

Marie was born on Jan. 23, 1915, in Zumbrota to Louis and Ida (Lohman) Houck. She graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1935. Marie married Wayne Matti on Sept. 13, 1935, in Osage, Iowa. In 1944, they moved to Austin where Wayne worked at the Hormel Company.

Marie was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Daughters of the King and the Eagles Auxiliary for over 50 years. She was a state Eagle Mother and worked many Eagle’s Cancer Telethons. Marie enjoyed cooking, baking and sewing.

Marie is survived by her children: Edward (Pat) Matti, Sulpher, La.; David (Barbara) Matti, Ferndale, MD; Judy (Bob) Goergen, Austin; Mary Lou (Bob) Jacobs, Elmore and Donald (Peggy) Matti, Grand Junction, Colo.; 13

grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; half-brother, Meredith Houck, Big Stone City, S.D. and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne and sister, Susie.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church on Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, with the Reverend Diana M. Rogers and the Reverend

Lynn Adwell officiating. Organist will be Scott Blankenbaker and soloist will be

Erin Schumacher. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be at

Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Friday from 9 to 10 a.m..

Casket bearers will be Jolene Kreiger, Greg Jacobs, Suzanne Carr, Janine Marks, Scott Goergen and Tom Goergen.

The family prefers memorials.
