Rebels win tournament title over BP

The Southland boys basketball team won its own tournament when it topped Blooming Prairie 56-39 in the title game of the Rebel Invite in Adams Friday.

Southland (2-4 overall) trailed by four a couple of times early, but it built its lead up to 31-21 at the half. Alan May led the way with 13 points, 11 rebounds, six steals, six assists, and five blocked shots.

“Alan had a very nice game and he kind of did it all,” Southland head coach Jon Thalberg said.

Cooper Nelson led BP (1-4 overall) with 18 points, but he was held to six in the second half.

“Cooper gave us fits and he works hard,” Thalberg said. “It was good for our guys to see that.”

Spring Grove (3-3 overall) beat LeRoy/Ostrander (1-4 overall) 68-33 in the consolation title game.
