FARIBAULT — The Austin girls hockey team opened strong in a 6-2 win at Faribault (3-20 overall) on the road Tuesday.
Kennedy Thompson scored two goals and two assists for the Packers (10-14 overall, 6-9 Big Nine).
“Kennedy played a heck of a game tonight,” Austin head coach Denny Bray said. “She did a heck of a job.”
The Packers out-shot the Falcons 21-7 in the first period as they jumped out to a 3-1 lead.
“It was probably the best first period we’ve played all season,” Bray said.
