Three juveniles were arrested early Thursday in Austin for allegedly stealing a number of bikes and vandalizing at least one car.
The boys, ages 14, 15 and 15, were taken to a juvenile detention center in Red Wing and face second-degree burglary charges in Mower County court.
According to a police report, the three were seen biking through town around 3 a.m. carrying a fourth bike alongside, prompting a witness to call police.
When police stopped them, at the 2400 block of Oakland Avenue West, they were towing a fifth bike. They also had tools for cutting bike locks, according to the report.
The three were taken to the Law Enforcement Center for questioning. One of the boys confessed to the thefts and said the other two were responsible for vandalizing a car a few days earlier near an Apollo Superette.
Police are also investigating whether the boys are responsible for shooting two vehicles with a pellet gun at Holiday Dodge-Chrysler-Jeep, 2905 W. Oakland Ave., over the weekend.
Each vehicle had a window shattered, with total damage estimated at $500.
