It’s a great showing for Mower County. More than 70 4-H youth are headed to the state fair this weekend to showcase their livestock. They will compete in categories that include beef, dairy, goats, rabbits, poultry, sheep and swine.

There is more to 4-H than standing next to an animal and smiling.

It takes dedication, hard work, responsibility and commitment.

We are proud of all of our local state fair participants and the parents, volunteers and coordinators who lend their support.

For those attending the state fair this weekend, perhaps on the way to buying some Swedish Coffee or a cream puff, make sure to stop by the livestock area and congratulate our local 4-H youth.

They deserve it.
