A Rose Creek man was knocked unconscious and later taken to a hospital following a two-car crash Wednesday.
Erik Akkerman, 24, collided with Todd Klatt, 45, of Brownsdale on State Highway 56 near Hosmer Street in Brownsdale while Klatt was turning left. No other passengers were in the vehicles.
The Mower County Sheriff’s Office responded to the accident at around 4:40 p.m. Akkerman’s car was the most seriously damaged, and he was slumped over the steering wheel unconscious, according to a report.
Akkerman was taken from the scene by ambulance.
Klatt received some cuts in the accident but said he would seek medical attention on his own.
Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts, according to the report.
Highway 56 was shut down in both directions for about 15 minutes following the crash, Sgt. Martha Hauschildt said Thursday.
Hauschildt said no citations or charges have been issued, but said Klatt could be cited for failure to yield.
Akkerman’s condition was not listed in the report and was not immediately available Thursday.
