Mae Y. Sibbers, 91, of Austin, died Tuesday morning, Feb. 7, 2012, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin.

Mae was born May 17, 1920, at Austin, Minn., the daughter of Andrew and Anna (Sorenson) Anderson. She attended Austin Public Schools and was married to Arnold Sibbers on Nov. 19, 1941, by the Rev. Henry Noss at Austin. Mae worked for a while at the Geo. A. Hormel Co. and the St. Olaf Hospital kitchen. As her children grew older, she returned to work at Land O’ Lakes Foods in Albert Lea, Minn., where she worked until her retirement.

Mae was a longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Austin where she was active in the Ladies Aid. Several years ago, she became a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church. She enjoyed doing crafts and over the years had done plastic canvassing, macramé and ceramics. Mae loved to spend weekends with her grandchildren, but her great-grandchildren held a very special place in her heart.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold, on Sept. 21, 1961; brothers, Ed and Nels and sisters, Ida and Olga.

Mae is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Tom Lillquist, Forest City, Iowa, Shirley and Doug Schuler, Cannon Falls, Minn.; grandchildren: Steven (Cari) Lillquist, Forest City, Michael (Rhiannon) Lillquist, Mason City, Iowa, Kellie (Todd) Sundheim, Hastings, Minn., Chad (Danielle) Schuler, Faribault, Minn.; great-grandchildren, Zach, Ryleigh and Caleb Lillquist, Madeline and Jacob Sundheim and Corey and Shay Schuler; sister and brother-in-law, Lenora “Babe” and Dick Boughten, Rose Creek.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary with the Rev. to 7 p.m. Thursday and for one hour before the service on Friday morning.
