The theft victim, Carlos Lennin Batista-Quintana, 24, is charged with a single felony count of prostitution for hiring a 16- to 17-year-old. Batista-Quintana has plead not guilty and is set for a pretrial hearing Oct. 9.

Batista-Quintana allegedly took the girl to the Sterling Motel in Austin on May 24 for sex. While Batista-Quintana was putting on a condom, the girl allegedly stole his shorts and left in a car driven by another woman, according to the criminal complaint.

Batista-Quintana told police he met the girl at a fast-food restaurant and drove her to the motel. He said he and the girl each got their own room but she came to his shortly after arriving.

Motel surveillance footage, however, showed Batista-Quintana entering the room with a girl, who was seen leaving shortly after. The motel owner also told police that only one room was rented.

Batista-Quintana said the girl pushed him down into his room, hurting his neck and keeping him from moving temporarily, the complaint states. The girl then removed his shorts and left the room.

Batista-Quintana and his wife went to police to report the robbery later that evening.

The girl stole his wallet with $400 in cash, a credit card, cell phone, Minnesota ID, gold wedding ring and $70 in Mexican currency.

Also arrested and charged in the case was Chanel Johnson, 27, of rural Austin, who admitted to arranging the meeting between the girl and Batista-Quintana.

Johnson also allegedly waited for the girl and drove her after she left the motel.

Johnson has plead not guilty to felony counts of promoting prostitution of someone under 18, and aiding and abetting a simple robbery. A pretrial hearing is set for a Sept. 18.
