Kevin True is no longer the publisher of the Austin Daily Herald as of late July, and the paper is searching for a permanent replacement.
Staff was told July 30 that Kevin True would no longer be serving as publisher, a role he had held since June 2004.
True did not comment, beyond stating that he had “nothing bad to say about Boone,” the Alabama-based newspaper group that owns the Herald.
David Churchill, senior vice president with Boone and president of Minnesota Publishers, Inc., is serving as interim publisher.
Churchill did not comment further on the move. He did say in a release that True will remain a consultant to Austin Newspapers, Inc.
Managing editor David Richards, circulation manager Kim Spaeth and senior advertising representative Jana Gray are providing day-to-day management until a new publisher is named, Churchill said in the release.
Churchill said a new publisher is expected to be named soon for the nearly 6,000-circulation Herald.
