Inez Honderich (Clark, nee Oscarson), 92, of Chandler, Ariz., passed away peacefully on Feb. 8, 2012.

Inez was born in Bryant, S.D., on Sept. 7, 1919, to Swedish immigrants Judith and Oscar Oscarson. Inez and her family moved to Austin, Minn., when she was 12. Inez graduated from Austin High School and after graduation went to work at Hormel Foods. Inez, who did some modeling, was the first Spam Queen, and her picture was used in many magazine advertisements for Hormel’s over the years. She married Robert Clark in 1940, and they raised their family in Austin. Inez and Robert owned Clark’s Pet Shop — an Austin institution — for many years.

In 1973, Inez and Robert moved to Arizona. Robert passed away in 1975. In 1976, Inez married Forrest Honderich of Natchez, Miss. Inez and Forrest lived in Iran, Miss., and Texas before retiring in Green Valley, Ariz., in the early 1990s. Due to poor health, Inez and Forrest moved to Chandler, Ariz., to be closer to family. Forrest passed away in 2009. Inez spent the last three years of her life at her lovely senior home and enjoyed listening to her books on tape and the Arizona Diamondbacks and Phoenix Suns games on the radio. Those last three years were wonderful, happy years for her.
