The third annual Cory Allhiser Memorial Ride will take place Saturday.
The event honors Allhiser, who died from injuries he sustained when he crashed his snowmobile near Manchester on Feb. 7, 2010. Allhiser left behind a fiance and three children.
Allhiser’s friends and family organized the first ride, and the tradition continues.
“The family has blessed me with continuing this tradition and allowed me to help another family each year that had to go through the hardship of losing a family member doing what we love to do, snowmobiling,” family friend Derek Megraw wrote.
This year’s ride honors David Fretty, who was struck by a drunk driver on July 7, 2011, while riding his motorcycle. Fretty went into a coma and died of his injuries on Oct. 25, 2011.
The event will start at Robert’s Transfer & Storage at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, ending at about 7 p.m. at Robert’s. Anyone can ride but participants must donate at least $25 to receive a shirt, game entries and door prizes. After the ride, everyone will gather at River Oaks Golf Course for music, games, auctions, raffles, food and friends.
