An Austin youth stepped up his game at the National Junior Olympic track and field meet in the 13-14 year old division at Des Moines, Iowa this past weekend.

Andrew Hagan, who will be an eighth grader this fall, finished better than his seed in the shot put and discus and had better distances in each event than he did in the National qualifier a few weeks back.

In the shot put Hagan was seeded 22nd of 39 throwers. He finished 16th with a throw of 39 feet, 4.5 inches.
