ALBERT LEA — The Austin boys hockey team saw its season come to an end when it lost 6-0 at No. 7 Albert Lea (13-13 overall) in the first round of the Section 1A tournament Thursday.

The first period was scoreless until the Tigers scored with a minute to go to take a 1-0 lead and they put up two more goals in the second period to go up 3-0.

“I think they kind of out-muscled us. We had two lines and they were basically playing with three,” Austin head coach Tim Peterson said.

The No. 10 seeded Packers (4-22 overall) mustered just 16 shots on goal, while AL fired off 55 shots.

“I don’t think the shot count and the score shows how tough we played them,” Austin head coach Tim Peterson said. “I’m really proud of the kids. We weren’t in a lot of games this season, but they never quit and they always kept battling.”
