Falcons rally past Packers

The Packer boys hockey team saw a closely contested game turn into an 8-3 loss in a matter of 10 minutes against Faribault in Riverside Arena Thursday.

Devin McCune trailed on a Josh Detwiler breakway for a rebound to make it 2-1 Packers and Ethan Larson knocked one in off Faribault goalie Cody Morsching’s pad to make it 3-1 with 6:34 left in the second period, but Austin (2-9 overall, 1-4 Big Nine) wouldn’t score the rest of the way.

The Falcons (5-7 overall, l 3-0 Big Nine) scored twice in the in a two-minute span near the end of the third as Jack Helgeson angled one past defenseman Pat Wagner and goalie Rainer Londino-Green and he one-timed a pass from Zach Miller to tie the game.

Faribault scored five goals in the third to put it away and Helgeson ended up with five goals and seven points.
