Funeral services for Isabel Anetta Loken, 94, of Albert Lea will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church. The Rev. Daniel Baker will officiate. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery. Isabel died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, at St. John’s Lutheran Home, with her family at her side.

Isabel Anetta Loken was born on Nov. 17, 1917, to Ole and Nora (Towne) Jenson in Walcott, N.D. She grew up in Adrian and was the valedictorian of the class of 1935 in Adrian. Her senior class address was titled “Build for Character, Not for Fame,” and Isabel lived her life accordingly. Isabel went on to attend Mankato State College graduating in 1937 with a degree in elementary education. She taught elementary grades in Steele, Waseca and Freeborn counties. On Dec. 29, 1939, Isabel was united in marriage to Elmer Christian Loken in New Richland. The couple made their home in the Albert Lea area for more than 50 years. Isabel and Elmer were very active members of First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. She taught Sunday school for many years, served on the library board for 10 years, was a Bible study leader and member of Circle 32. Isabel was also a member of Sons of Norway and a past member of the Elks Lodge. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, playing piano and listening to music. Isabel loved entertaining, especially on holidays. She will be dearly missed by all.

Survivors include her daughters: Janice (Ellwood) Tukua of Alden and Judy (Ken) Madson of Rogers; grandchildren: Lori (Dr. Paul) Yeske of St. Peter, Lisa (Brian) Doyle of Lakeville, Steven (Mary) Tukua of Denver, Colo., Jon Madson of Shakopee and Jeff Madson of Dallas, Texas; great-grandchildren: Adam Yeske, Nathan and Nicole Doyle and Justine Madson; sister, Evelyn (Tom) Cousins of Edina; nephew, Tom (Meg) Meyers and their family of Bloomington.

Isabel was preceded in death by her parents and husband Elmer Loken.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church building fund, Peace and Power or the American Cancer Society.
