LETTER: Help clean up Mower County’s waters

Published 10:14 am Wednesday, August 5, 2009

All Minnesotan’s want clean water for our lakes, rivers and streams, but the truth is all waters that have been tested in Mower County are seriously polluted. Skin contact should be avoided and eating any fish should be limited. E. coli bacteria from animal and human waste contaminate East Side Lake and the Cedar River. Run-off from agricultural and urban areas put fertilizers, topsoil and other chemicals in our waters.

The Cedar River Watershed is one group that is trying to address these issues. The Izaak Walton League also encourages citizen action.

Let’s get involved and make a difference for the Minnesota we love.
